I thought I would start out my first post with a little background knowledge on John and I’s house situation- since it is one of the main reasons that I decided to start this blog. Back in March of 2020, my fiance John bought a house at a great price. He found the house on Zillow after just casually scrolling one day (as he does often for fun). We both really liked the location so we checked it out, and next thing you know we ended up with a 3 bedroom 2 and 1/2 bathroom tudor style home that needed a TON of work! When he first bought the house, I was nervous and hesitant for a couple of reasons. First off, we are both young, broke, and really starting our careers- I had just graduated college as a substitute teacher and John was working for his family businesses at the time. Also, John has had some experience with renovations through work on family rental properties, but had never remodeled an entire house before. We knew it was going to be a lot of work and money to get the house where we wanted it, but I trusted John that he would be able to do it-and he did! We were able to accomplish all the renovations by doing almost all of the work ourselves. We were also able to complete way more work in a shorter span of time than normal, because in March everything shut down due to COVID. There were lots of arguments, late nights, and beers involved, but we are so happy that we decided to do it and were able to turn the old, outdated house into our home!
